Scoring Methodology

We score each clinic across five dimensions (1–5 each) plus an overall score. Scores are based on public information and third-party feedback, do not constitute medical or legal advice, and are updated with each verification date.

Five scoring dimensions (1–5 each)

1

Compliance

Licensing, regulatory standing, whether foreigners may legally be served, and contract/parentage protections.

2

Medical level

Verifiable accreditation, years operating, lab/technology and physician background (self-reported success rates do not add points).

3

Transparency

Price disclosure, contract clarity, information availability, and whether key questions are avoided.

4

Reputation

Quantity/quality of third-party reviews, negative records and controversies, media coverage.

5

Intl. accessibility

Verifiable Chinese website / WeChat / Mandarin coordinator and past Chinese-client experience.

How scores are derived (public signals)

Each dimension is converted from verifiable public signals by a fixed rule (1–5, 0.5 steps), not from clinical-outcome verification. Key signals: verifiable accreditation (JCI / TEMOS / ISO …) and documented controversies (compliance); accreditation and years operating (medical); price/success disclosure (transparency); third-party platform ratings (reputation); verifiable Chinese readiness (China-readiness).

The overall score is the mean of the five dimensions (one decimal). Self-reported success rates and prices are always labeled “self-reported” and never add objective points; missing fields read “Not found”. War-affected Ukrainian clinics are marked unavailable and placed last in rankings. Scores update with each verification date and do not constitute medical or legal advice.

Source credibility tiers

  1. Official / regulatory: health ministries, regulators, official legal texts.
  2. Industry & academic: ESHRE, societies, papers, WHO.
  3. Clinic websites: factual source only (interested party) — not a review source, excluded from objective scoring.
  4. Third-party review platforms: Google / Yandex / Trustpilot, forums, Reddit, Russian отзывы (watch for marketing).
  5. Media: Reuters, BBC, RFE/RL and local outlets on scandals & regulation.
